Feed the Pandas

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, also known as the Chengdu Panda base, offers an opportunity for you to witness pandas in their natural habitat. The facility first began its operations in 1987 with six rescued pandas. Today the number has grown to at least 124 pandas. The facility is also decked with an onsite museum where you can learn about the reproductive cycle of these cuddly animals. Extending across 24 acres, Du Fu Thatched Cottage is a serene place of interest in Chengdu devoted to one of the most iconic poets in China. The site reflects the home in which Du Fu resided between AD 759 and 763 where at least 250 of his most well-known poems came into light. The cottage is perched on the edge of the Huanhuaxi River and is beautified with lush gardens, pavilions, bridges and pathways. The cottage holds a simple structure and only features a study, bedroom, and kitchen.

A Day Trip to Mengdingshan Tea Plantation

Located within a 2-hour drive away from the city, Mengdingshan Tea Plantation is a must-visit if you ever find yourself making a trip to Chengdu. A day trip to the tea plantations will allow you to equip yourself with the knowledge of different varieties of tea not to mention the significance of Chinese culture and tradition. As you take a stroll along the tea plantation, you will come across a local farmer who will unravel the tea growing process including details on the country's rich tea-making rituals. Emerging from the city's thriving business district, West Pearl tower is the tallest structure in the city and attracts a multitude of tourists each year.
