6 Iconic Markets to Visit in Bangkok- Discover the market scene like never before!

The outdoor market scene is one of the best things about Bangkok! These markets are great places to shop, eat, mix with locals, and have lots of fun. With plenty of markets to choose from, here are some of the best to visit.

1

Talat Rot Fai

Talat Rot Fai is sometimes called Train Night Market, and is a favoured haunt by locals and travellers, particularly for its location! The markets feature an extensive open-air bazaar setup, with a ton of kiosks selling delectable street food, drinks, snacks, thrift shopping, apparel, vintage items, jewellery, antiques, trinkets, and more!

2

Talad Neon Night Market

Initiated in late 2016, it is centrally located in downtown Pratunam, close to Siam. Accordingly, it is also called the ''Downtown Night Market of Bangkok''. If you're at Platinum Fashion Mall or Central World, then don't fail to stroll down to this market during sundown. You can resume your shopping and also grab some tasty grub for dinner!

3

Khlong Thom Market

This night market was once referred to as the Flashlight Market because the shoppers required a torch to view the goods! Held on Saturday nights, it is filled with diverse stalls and is quite famous for its comprehensive assortment of goods. You can find second-hand items, all types of trinkets and knick-knacks like CDs, electronic gadgets and parts, and toys. If you require a 4-star hotel in Bangkok City Centre close to this area, the likes of Maitria Mode Sukhumvit 15 can be a sound option.

4

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Possibly the most well-known market in Bangkok, it has become must-for shoppers and market lovers in the city. Chatuchak is among the biggest open-air markets worldwide and covers around 1 km with 15 000 stalls. Its vendors sell just about everything sourced from all regions of Thailand! The market is sectioned off into 27 divisions, with all kinds of items for sale, like clothes, handicrafts, souvenirs, herbs and medicine, wooden furniture, plants, flower arrangements, stones, ceramic art, and the list goes on!
It draws more than 200 000 sightseers every weekend. A visit there will be great fun; however, the midday heat and throngs of crowds can make it overwhelmingly hot and sweaty. If you can't handle all that, there is also a Night Market version held every Friday.

5

Sampeng Market

Sampeng Market is in Chinatown, and it is the most vibrant and busiest of its kind in Bangkok. It is on a small shopping road named Sampeng Lane or Soi Want 1 in Chinatown and has stalls and shops with anything and everything. It is one of the older markets and was started by the first Chinese settlers of the region in the latter part of the eighteenth century.
The market road extends for at least 1 km. You can uncover discounted clothes, toys, electronics, kitchenware, random trinkets and typical Chinese items like tea, herbs, medicine, silk pyjamas, dried food, porcelain ware and Chinese lanterns.

6

Chang Chui Bangkok Plane Night Market

This memorable night market is in Chang Chui around a Tristar Airliner, with other sculptures encircling the giant plane. It is a truly avant-garde setting to please the artistically inclined! There is a good assortment of vendors selling all kinds of stuff, from food to clothes!
