Victoria Park

Beautifully maintained and located within the very heart of Nuwara Eliya town, the expansive Victoria Park is a great place to visit with family and friends. Here one can enjoy a long lazy picnic under endless blue skies, enjoy a spot of birdwatching and take in colourful flowering plants. The park also comes equipped with a children's play area -where your little ones can play to their heart's content. The well-manicured grounds, flower paths and serene ponds make for a great backdrop for those cherished family photos. Do note that an entrance fee is required to gain access to the park.

Pedro Tea Estate

A famed tea estate and factory in the region, the Pedro Tea Estate draws in many a crowd keen on learning about its cultivation of Pure Ceylon Tea. Located just three kilometres away from the town centre, one can take in vernal expanses of hills laden with tea bushes. Upon visiting, take a walk among the tea terraces, observe tea pluckers going about their day and make your way to the on-site factory where you can learn about how the world's best tea is processed and made ready for export. Round off your visit by making a stop at the charming outdoor café at the estate for a fragrant cuppa. The best time to visit the Pedro Estate is either during the early morning or in the late afternoon.

Lake Gregory

The local reservoir of Nuwara Eliya, the man-made lake Gregory is an extremely popular place among tourists to visit and spend a relaxing day outdoors. The lake was built in 1873 and was named after Sir William Gregory during the colonial era. Here one can stroll along the lake bunds and even hire paddle boats as well. The expansive lake grounds are ideal for a relaxed picnic with friends and family. Apart from paddle boats, one can also rent out bicycles by the hour. The best time to visit the lake is during the month of April!

Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple

Located atop a hill, the Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple is a beloved Hindu shrine surrounded by elegant vistas of the lush forests and the lake below along with stunning views of the Ramboda Falls. The temple which was built in 1981 features a 16- feet idol of Lord Hanuman. The temple also features sixteen ashram rooms along with a vegetarian restaurant as well. The shrine can be easily reached from most hotels in Nuwara Eliya such as the likes of Heritance Tea Factory as well.

Moon Plains

Also known as Sandathanne, the beautiful Moon Plains is a much-visited biodiversity spot among nature enthusiasts. The plains are located approximately 6 km away from Nuwara Eliya and expeditions can be arranged by local tour operators if one wishes.
