Fun things to do in Bangkok – Exploring the land of smiles in 2023

As one of the most crowded cities in the entire world, many people have contrasting reactions to Bangkok; you either love or hate it. There are so many things to see and do here.

1

Visit the grand palace

One of the most iconic places to visit in this city, the grand palace is a golden castle that looks like it was made of magic. The entrance fee is a little steep but it's well worth the price. Do keep in mind that the dress code is very strict; you cannot expose your shoulders or knees and have to be dressed modestly.

2

The Temple of the Golden Mount

Perched atop a small mountain, there are many bells along the hike you can ring for good luck. The walk isn't too difficult, and if you struggle, breaks are available along the way. The entrance fee is 20 baht (50 cents), and after climbing the many stairs, you are rewarded with a stunning panorama of Bangkok and its incredible cityscape, featuring the glistening gold Chedi.

3

Marvel at Wat Pho

This iconic site is not only the oldest Buddhist temple in the city as well as the city's first university. With an entrance price of only 100 baht, it's a really intriguing location that is definitely deserving of its place among the top activities to do in Bangkok. Additionally, you receive a free glass of water, which is helpful on hot, muggy days!

4

Wat Arun

This splendid temple is the most beautiful in the country; at a distance, it looks like it's made of silver. Overlooking the shore of the Chao Phraya River, it towers proudly. Entry is available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and costs 50 baht per person.

5

Shop at the Patpong Night Market

Walking distance away from Somerset Park Suanplu Bangkok, this night market is the best midnight excursion from your Bangkok apartments for rent, furnished or unfurnished. Why? You can pick up knockoffs of anything; from Gucci purses to iPads.

6

Koh Sanh Road

If you're a backpacker, this is the ideal location in Bangkok for you. You can try many quirky things such as fried cockroaches and spiders on sticks, drink a bucket of local alcohol for just $5 and rave at a street party.

7

Sky Bar

This bar, made famous by the second Hangover movie, provides stunning views of Bangkok while you sip an expensive beverage.

8

Floating Markets

You can take a day trip to the famous floating markets. There are travel packages starting at $6 or you can even take the whole tour on foot. But, if you're with a tour company, they will take you to the nearby floating villages too.
