Although the waves here are not perfect for surfing, it makes for a great swimming location. For those who want to explore underwater life, you can head to Jungle Beach, which is a hidden beach located a short walk away. There are plenty of opportunities to snorkel and embark on other equally interesting water activities.
When you visit Galle tourist places, take some time to also get a glimpse of the hard-to-miss Galle lighthouse! Located within Galle Fort, you can walk along the ramparts of the lighthouse. Don't forget to take your camera as this spot is perfect for those holiday photos. You will also come across a number of cliff jumpers on the side, who jump from the walls of the fort into the deep blue sea for a small fee. Better yet, if you stay awhile, you might just catch the stunning sunset.
If you're a cricket aficionado, then you're in for a treat! Galle is home to one of Sri Lanka's renowned cricket stadiums, where several international and local matches are played. If you time your holiday right, you just might be able to watch a cricket match live. However, do keep in mind that tickets for international matches get sold out pretty fast, so it is best that you buy them in advance so that you don't miss out on any matches!
