5 Best Stops Between Khon Kaen and Bangkok - For a road trip filled with adventure!

The distance by car from Khon Kaen to the capital, Bangkok, is approximately 277 miles (or 445 kilometres), and if you drive directly there, it should take you around 5 hours and 18 minutes. Here's a list of some wonderful stops along the route that you must stop at!

1

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya

The journey from Khon Kaen is a long one, and it is advised you have a couple of stopovers to stretch your legs. And where better to than in Ayutthaya, often referred to as Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a city located along the route. If you're leaving from your hotel in Khon Kaen, for instance, say a property like Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre, then check out the distance from this hotel and plan out the route.

2

Phimai Historical Park

In terms of both its expansive size and its attention to minute detail, the Khmer ruins at Prasat Phimai are among the most remarkable that can be seen in Thailand. Even though it was constructed as a Mahaya temple, the carvings represent a wide variety of Hindu deities, and many of the architectural features, most prominently the shrine's characteristic prang tower, were eventually incorporated into Angkor Wat.

3

Wat Ban Rai

A porcelain shrine in the shape of an elephant sits in the middle of a pond that was created by humans. To its right is a wat, which is the Thai word for temple. Enamel tiles have been used to create a stunning design for the shrine. The monument of a walking Buddha, as well as the Luang Pho Khun statue, are both located on the rooftop, at the point where it is possible to walk up to them. One may discover representations of Buddhism's holy scriptures all throughout the structure. The shrine is comprised of almost 20 million individual pieces of mosaic, making it the biggest ceramic mosaic shrine in Asia.

4

Jim Thompson Farm

Jim Thompson Farm is home to beautifully manicured flower fields, silk manufacturing demonstrations, and a replica of a traditional Isaan town that is available for tours. This is definitely a wonderful destination for a trip with the kids. Vividly coloured flowers surround the place and there are a variety of fun things to do. Besides, this is a really good location to capture photographs. If you are an Instagrammer, then you would want to check this place out for sure.

5

Khao Yai Floating Market

This open-air market has stores decorated in a vintage manner, a small zoo, and strolling pathways that wind through beautiful gardens. Everyone loves the rustic feel to it and the work that has been put into it to make it so gorgeous. Note that it is not the actual floating market in which people sell their wares on boats. It's a mock-up, but it has some excellent decor and there's a diner and a coffee shop on the top of the hill. This is another ideal place for photographs. The body of water in question is not a river but rather a very large pond.
