How to Spend One Week in Paris

Ah, Paris - the city of romance, flowers, art galleries and fine dining is a holiday dream come true for any visitor. Are you considering visiting Paris for a week? Congratulations! If you ask frequent travellers to Paris – that is the right amount of time to spend in this charming corner of the world. Let’s dig a little deeper into how to spend a wholesome week in Paris.

1

How to get around Paris?

Getting around the city of art and romance is as easy as a walk in the park. Speaking of walking, those promenades are a great way to get around and enjoy Paris. You can look for serviced accommodation and hotels in the heart of the city to be able to enjoy many strolls. Accommodation options like Discover ASR properties in the city offer easy access to the gentle Parisian way of life. If you wish to use public transport, the metro is the cheapest and the fastest way to travel around Paris. You can buy tickets at metro station automatic machines. The RER is great for reaching Paris from the airport. You can hop on buses to get to the banks of the Seine River and get about on historic routes.

How to explore the Paris neighbourhood?

Once you check into your apartment or hotel, take some fresh air and explore the city. For an off-the-beaten walk go by the St. Martin canal and perhaps enjoy a boat ride from there. Then go to the Parc de Buttes Chaumont to rest your legs and embrace the beauty. If you visit in summer, you can catch an open-air musical or movie at the park. The Parc de la Villette is lovely, vast park in the 19th arrondissement. You can visit Europe’s largest science museum at this park. A walk along the banks of the Seine would transport you in time to Van Gogh’s starry night.

How to go on a tour of the Louvre and Palais Garnier?

If you wish to save time and get past the line faster, buy your Louvre tickets at the airport. Alternatively, you could join a guided tour. Once you get through security, you can follow the signs to get to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Afterwards, go see Venus de Milo and Winged victory. The Louvre is an amazing museum, and you will have a great time exploring it. Once you leave the museum, you can make your way to Palais Garnier – the Opera house. They offer guided tours, but you can explore them on your own. The library inside the opera house is one of the best in Europe. Come evening, you can go on a cruise along the Seine River.

How to enjoy free attractions in Paris?

There are plenty of free attractions to enjoy in Paris. Champs de Mars is a wonderful spot for a picnic with views of the Eiffel tower. Take a photo of the famous tower from Champs de Mars. Then you can cross the bridge to get to Trocadéro. Your week in Paris should definitely include a walk along Champs-Elysées towards Place de la Concorde. It is a lovely boulevard lined with quaint boutique shops, cafés, restaurants and even luxury stores. Do a bit of window shopping and sit by a café for some coffee and cake. This boulevard is also where you will find Lido – the famous cabaret show. Tuileries Garden is another gorgeous garden right after Place de la Concorde. Vaux-le-Vicomte, who designed Grand Versaille, landscaped this beautiful garden. If you walk the length of the garden, you can get to Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which unfortunately is not a free attraction.
