What are industrial gases and what do we use them for?
Helium is a chemically inert, colorless, odorless gas. Industrial helium is often used in applications where air or oxygen needs to be removed. It is also used for leak checking, inerting, blanketing and other industrial applications. It is supplied in various helium cylinder and tank sizes and in bulk form.
The uses of propane gas are too many to list here. It is used for cooking on grills and stoves, for heating homes, livestock facilities, in grain dryers, and other heat-producing appliances. It is used in heaters in construction sites. It is also used for conventional stationary refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Increasingly, propane is used for vehicle fuel because it is cleaner and also cost less. It is also used in manufacturing aerosol sprays and air fresheners, and even in the semiconductor industry.
Balloon gas is a mixture of air and helium, made to fill balloons. The balloon industry in US is huge, so demand is high but helium supply can be unstable and shortages do occur every now and then.
