Top Water Sports Activities in the Maldives for Adrenaline Junkies – Why just chill when you can have a thrill in paradi

If you're travelling to the Maldives, you probably want to just relax and laze on the gorgeous beaches and soak up the tropical sun – and by all means, you should. But nothing is stopping you from having a few thrills while you're at it.

1

Surfing

The best thing about surfing in the Maldives is that the waves aren't too challenging. It's a great place for beginners to build a love for the sport – and surely you will. But if you are a more experienced surfer, there are plenty of great resorts with reefs that have challenging waves to ride.

2

Snorkelling

If you are travelling with kids, you have to get them to try snorkelling. The reefs in the Maldives are a world unto themselves, with a plethora of sea critters of all shapes, colours and sizes just waiting to be discovered.

3

Parasailing

The Maldives has water sports for everyone. If you're on a romantic getaway or maybe honeymooning in the tropics, you and your partner should definitely take a moment from the romance (of which you'll have plenty) and spend a morning parasailing. It's definitely a thrill, and the view from the sky of the waters below is truly heavenly.

4

Catamaran sailing

This is not an activity you'll find everywhere, but if you're staying at a resort like Holiday Inn Kandooma Maldives, you'll get the opportunity to let the sailor in you free on the gorgeous waters of the Indian Ocean. Spend an evening alone, with your partner or the whole family navigating the waters of the island resort and discovering a few of the legendary atolls of the Maldives.

5

Kitesurfing

If surfing in the Maldives feels too tame or the calm waves seem too gentle, try kitesurfing. It's an activity that will really get the thrill meter jumping into the red zone. Of all the Maldives' water sports, kitesurfing is probably the most exciting. If you've never done it before, don't worry, most resorts have really good instructors who are ready and waiting to show you the ropes.

6

Jet skiing

If you just want some speed to liven up your trip and break the monotony of blissful paradise, rent a jet ski from your resort, and spend the evening zipping across the clear turquoise waters while you wait for sunset. You've most likely tried jet skiing before, so it's nothing new but the Maldives is a magical place and it'll feel like a whole new experience altogether.

7

Scuba diving

If you feel snorkelling isn't adventurous enough, you have to go scuba diving while you're in the Maldives. If you've never done it before, it's one of the best places in the world to take a few lessons and start your journey to getting certified so you can dive anywhere in the world. The reefs in the Maldives are beyond magical and could best be described as magical and otherworldly.
