Locally called Pidurutalagala, Mount Pedro is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka. It is less than a 30-minute drive away from the main town. At over 8000 feet in height, the mountain is home to a local media transmission tower. Visitors can reach Mount Pedro up to its viewing point by either car or van. There is quite a bit of wildlife here, so keep an eye out! If you are lucky, you may spot an elusive Sri Lankan leopard! Close by Mount Pedro is a tea estate, which is open to visitors. The factory conducts tours of its grounds, and at the end of it, you can sip some freshly brewed Ceylon tea, overlooking the glorious mountains landscape.
