Best Adventure Activities in Zambia - For an adrenaline rush like never before!

Zambia is quickly evolving into one of the most well-known extreme sports and adventure capitals on the continent. A variety of thrilling activities, within the vicinity of Victoria Falls, draws scores of global travellers every year.

1

White water rafting

Batoka Gorge offers some intense exhilaration to the adventure junkie. It is regarded as one of the finest commercially operated rivers in the world! The twenty-three rapids and impressive scenery along the black cliffs on the mighty Zambezi River is a path etched over a millennium! The rapids get traversed in big rubber rafts just below Victoria Falls. There are half-day trips, full-day and even two-day excursions to consider. Following a full day's white-water rafting, you have the opportunity to camp near the Batoka Gorge, listen to the wildlife and sit beside the campfire with some yummy food! The likes of Avani Victoria Falls Resort can be great options if you're looking for accommodation around the Falls.

2

Bungee jumping

This is where you will find the world's most elevated jump from a bridge, with a truly one-of-a-kind setting! At 111 metres overlooking the dramatic Batoka Gorge, this is one activity that thrill-seekers shouldn't forgo. It is an experience that you will never forget as you jump into space with the mighty rushing water below you! Prior bookings are not essential! But know that you will be required to go via the border patrol as it is in the middle of Zambia and Zimbabwe!

3

Flying across Victoria Falls

Nicknamed 'flight of angels', flying across Victoria Falls is the most sensational way of seeing its magnificence. This is one of the most memorable things to do in Zambia! You will get the opportunity to get some incredible photos to impress family and friends back home. It is also the ideal means of seeing the Zambezi making its way along the mighty cascade! Either a helicopter or a microlight is available for all guests, and each flight covers the Zambezi, Bakota Gorge and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The ride lasts from 15-minute to 30-minute journeys and departs from Maramba Aerodrome, Livingstone.

4

High Wire and Gorge Swing

The High Wire at Victoria Falls is the first of its kind used for commercial purposes in the world. A cable sits across the valley 135m in length and 75m over the ground. The guests will have a harness attaching themselves securely to a cable, after which they have to run and plunge over the rim of the precipice! This will enable you to sweep over the valley almost like a bird.
You can also try 'flying fox,' which is a line across the valley. And instead of jumping into the air, you glide over the gorge fastened to a harness. After this, you will be pulled back to the starting point once again!

5

Kayaking

Experience the tremendous force of the Zambezi River while gliding through the rapids alongside expert whitewater kayakers. A skilled kayaker will guide the boat along the rapids – no prior experience is needed! However, an age requirement of 15 years and above, a good degree of fitness, and a minimum weight of 90kg are essential for this activity.
