We call Charlotte home, and it is our top recommendation for places to visit. There are countless things to do in Charlotte, ranging from exciting nightlife to museums to professional sporting events.
OK - So this is technically in Charlotte, too, but it is a full day activity, and one of our favorite places in the world. Visit the US National Whitewater Center for rafting in a manmade river, flat water kayaking, trail running, mountain biking, concerts and more.
The Tweetsie Railroad is a North Carolina Classic. Ride behind the steam locomotive, pan for gems, visit shows, and enjoy the fun shops. It's a true family activity.
Did you know that the NC Zoo is the largest natural habitat zoo in the world? Feed giraffes, see lions and alligators, and appreciate beautiful animals that you wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to see.
Get your adrenaline fix at the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, and then hop on to the ropes course next door. This mount coaster is close to Boone (in Banner Elk), and is worth the visit!
Raleigh is another great city to visit, and we especially love the museums. The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is a must-visit location featuring fun exhibits and loads of information.
