The park became protected in 1988 and is a virgin forest, with many secret trails along natural habitats with all kinds of wildlife, like barking deer, mouse deer, bear, serow, gibbon, Malay tapir, macaque, wild pig, langur, and numerous kinds of birds. Encounter rolling hills, creeks, waterfalls, and limestone outcrops in the eastern territories adjoining Khao Sok. Some of the best hotels in Khao Lak can be found near, and around this area. The likes of Avani+ Khao Lak Resort can be an option to base your stay when you are there.

Hat Thai Mueang National Park

Hat Thai Mueang National Park homes civets, deer, jungle fowls and many more wild animals.
If that doesn't sound amazing enough, Hat Thai Mueang National Park has a 13-kilometre stretch of pristine sandy coastline that is perfect for swimming. From November to February, the beach becomes a nesting site for sea turtles. The giant waterfall Ton Phrai is located within the region. With a roof of shaded trees, it is the ideal place for a picnic and a swim.

Tam Nang Waterfall and others

A popular hiking trail can be found to Tam Nang Waterfall within Si Phang-Nga National Park. The waterfall has cascades plunging at 63 metres, while the surrounding region is shaded with gigantic trees. Ton Ton Toei Waterfall can be found before the checking point to the national park with a height of 45 metres and a powerful drop. The trek is only a kilometre, with plenty of viewpoints along its route. One can visit all these scenic sites in just a single day – but only if you are up for the challenge!

4

Explore the beaches of the region

If you like long uninterrupted strolls along some of the most pristine beaches in Thailand, then you are in for a treat! There are several amazing coastlines surrounding the region, most notably White Sand Beach and Pak Weep Beach. These beautiful locations are indeed captivating, with plenty of restaurants to replenish you after a swim for the best lazy day under the sun.

Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Nursery

Found roughly 15 minutes beyond Khao Lak, Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Nursery occupies different pools filled with rehabilitated turtles waiting their turn to be freed again into the sea. You can find another turtle sanctuary in Thai Muang, which is about 40 minutes away from Khao Lak, and functions under the Phang Nga Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Department.
