Fascinating Places to Visit in Namibia - Trek the surreal landscape of Namibia

Namibia is a country of stunning natural beauty. It's home to all the big games you visit Africa to see. The people are welcoming and there are just so many places to visit and things to do. Here are some of the most fascinating places to visit in Namibia.

1

Etosha National Park

If you are visiting Namibia, you'll probably be landing at the airport in Windhoek. So, be sure to stay at one of the better hotels in the city as this will help plan out the rest of your trip in the country. You'll be able to arrange trips from the hotel itself to see some of the best attractions like Etosha National Park. Etosha is a large salt pan and is the largest national park in Namibia where you can find most of the animals in Africa here.

2

Fish River Canyon

There are plenty of things to do in Windhoek while holidaying at a property such as Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino. Take a trip to Fish River Canyon. It's quite a drive but it's one you won't regret. The canyon is the second largest in the world and one of Namibia's most visited attractions. If you are a hiker, there are several trails for you to explore. However, if hiking is not your cup of tea, don't be dismayed! You can drive right up to most of the great viewpoints that overlook the best areas of the canyon.

3

Cape Cross Seals

Who doesn't love a cute seal – and who doesn't love thousands of seals? When you visit Namibia, make a trip to Cape Cross to spend time with these adorable animals – one needs to be careful if they're getting too close though, these seemingly over-weight lovers of leisure can get quite feisty if in the mood! Try to go in the morning, before the sea breeze coming inland makes the smell a tad bit unbearable.

4

Walvis Bay Flamingos

No trip to Namibia is complete without a visit to the astonishingly beautiful Walvis Bay waterfront. It's a place of great natural beauty, but the main attraction is the gigantic flock of wild flamingos that call the bay home. Thousands upon thousands of birds gather here all year round. The sea of pink, at first, is too surreal for the eyes to comprehend, but it is guaranteed that you will gaze in awe at this opus of nature's creation for hours on end. If you are in Namibia, keep aside an evening to witness this spectacle.

5

Spitzkoppe

Namibia is home to an amazing assortment of wildlife, which at times, can make a traveller overlook the breathtaking landscapes this country has to offer. Spitzkoppe is one of the must-visit places in Namibia and a trip that you won't regret. The area, for all means and purposes, is completely uninhabited by people and quite isolated. The rock formations here seem otherworldly and surreal during the day but seem utterly alien come night. If you do visit Spitzkoppe – which you should – try to stay overnight at the amazing campground there. But if camping overnight seems a bit much, there are plenty of day trips you can join from Walvis Bay.
