North Male Atoll

Ideal for snorkelers of all levels, marine life is abundant in both the shallow and deep zones. South Male Atoll

With many types of sharks here, this spot is suited for scuba diving a little more than snorkelling. Nevertheless, the sizeable marine life makes it perfect for snorkelling too! Maafushi is ideal if you're travelling on a budget, and there are plenty of dive centres that conduct day trips to snorkelling sites. Northern Atolls

This area is largely a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where plenty of mantas and whale sharks gather from May to November. This area includes Baa, Raa, Lhaviyani and Noonu, but is snorkelling only. You're sure to spot grey reef sharks at Noonu Atoll!

North Ari Atoll

This area is extremely scenic and located to the west of Male. Ideal for snorkelers, the number of sites packed within this atoll is enviable. With plenty of house reefs with several channels dotting the area, snorkelers are undoubtedly going to have a memorable time. For odd dive sites and shipwrecks, head to Lhaviyani Atoll, which is perfect for a unique experience like no other!

Southern Atolls

With a plethora of untouched locations, the coral reefs are near well-preserved which makes the Southern atolls one of a kind. There are several underdeveloped islands in Thaa Atoll, but the marine life is unmatched. Ideal for diving as well, the channel dives will allow you to encounter numerous sharks.
