How lucky we are to live in a time and place where it's so often possible to avoid the things that scare us most: violence, disease, natural disasters, dangerous animals, and, at least until the very end, death.
Overcoming fear is a skill that anyone can learn. The problem is that most people cling to their fears, because it's part of who they are. If you aren't ready to start overcoming fear, you probably won't. And there's nothing wrong in that. Everything happens in its own time.
Fear is the main obstacle to success in business--in business as well as elsewhere. Don't let it rule your life. Most people aren't as successful as they might be, simply because their fear is keeping them from taking action. Maybe it's a fear of rejection, or maybe it's fear of failure.
You can't be successful if you're ruled by fear. Here's how I reprogrammed my brain to be more courageous. Fear is the enemy of success. Large rewards only result from taking comparably large risks. If you're ruled by fear, you'll never take enough risks and never achieve success you deserve.
Am I gonna make a complete ass out of myself!? What if I spend all this money, time and energy, and I still fail? Yup. We all have those thoughts. And contrary to what most people think, having fear and self-doubt is not a problem.
Facing Fears and Moving Forward Have you ever been so afraid of failing at something that you decided not to try it at all? Or has a fear of failure meant that, subconsciously, you undermined your own efforts to avoid the possibility of a larger failure?
Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger-if we didn't feel it, we couldn't protect ourselves from legitimate threats. But often we fear situations that are far from life-or-death, and thus hang back for no good reason. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell.

You know that queasy, heart-racing, gut-wrenched feeling you get when you're scared or feeling anxious? Everyone has experienced this because fear is normal-a helpful mechanism, even-preparing us for dangerous situations like a vicious-looking dog or a twister approaching. But irrational fears hold us back and keep us from enjoying our lives as much as we might like to.
