Enjoy the majestic elephants

Elephants are treated with awe and admiration in Sri Lanka, the most admired occasion is the Kandy Esela Perahera when they parade on the streets of Kandy. However, to see them close in their habitat is unique when you are in Sri Lanka by visiting some of the National Parks. They roam free at these parks, and you can also witness an elephant gathering at some of these parks.

Do a scenic train ride to Ella

The train service in Sri Lanka is an experience many visitors enjoy to see many parts of the island. The hill country route taken by the train is claimed to be the most scenic route on the island by train. It is a route passing the tea country with vast stretches of different hues of green such as vistas of sloping tea carpets and giant trees against the gleaming blue skies. The crossing of the iconic nine-arch bridge on a winding track is an enchanting experience as you enter the quaint town of Ella.

Explore the historical city of Kandy

This city is the capital of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka, placed on a plateau beside a beautiful lake which is named after the city. Having cooler climes make it possible to do so many things in Kandy, such as walking around the picaresque Kandy Lake, visiting the Dalada Maligawa which is a temple complex and is home to the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha, visiting the vibrant Kandy market and if you are visiting during August even witness the majestic and colourful parade of Kandy Esela Perahera.
