Within Old Havana, Plaza de la Catedral, Catedral de San Cristobal, Castillo de la Real Fuerza and Bodeguita del Medio are the main attractions. After numerous and extensive renovations, these old buildings are breathing a new life! In Havana, Plaza Vieja is a must-visit, as it is a vibrant gathering spot. You can easily spend a whole day in Old Town, strolling through the cobbled streets, looking at the neoclassical buildings.
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Trinidad is where you will feel as if you've travelled back in time to an entirely different era. Radiating a colonial feel, the architecture of the buildings ranges from the 17th to 19th centuries. The city's central square, Plaza Mayor, is where you'll find the liveliest ambience and above it, you'll see the Church of the Holy Trinity. If you head to Trinidad, you need to also include the Church and Monastery of Saint Francis, Casa de Aldeman Ortiz, and the Museum of Colonial Architecture for a well-rounded and educational visit. For those who are enthusiastic about how olden homes looked and their architecture, a visit to Palacio Brunet is encouraged. This home was built way back in 1812 and its original marble floors and frescoes remain the same as they used to be. Valle de los Ingenios is located to the East of Trinidad and is a World-heritage listed location. Showcasing a plethora of relics hailing from the 19th century, it's said to be one of the best things to see in Trinidad.
