5 essential dishes for an Oktoberfest Feast – A celebration of beer with your wurst behaviour let loose!

Oktoberfest, a yearly celebration of beer, has become a worldwide event whilst the main one is held in Munich, Germany where the first such celebration started. Many countries embrace it with beer-themed activities and of course, mouth-watering and indulging food to add zest to the festivities.

1

Tuck into Salt studded Pretzels

A wonderful accompaniment to the foaming mugs of beer which flows freely at Oktoberfest. Get yourself a large golden pretzel or a few of them if you are in company. These are commonly shaped into a knot and invitingly studded with chips of salt. You can peck at them as you gradually down the chilled brew in the company of others as these two are a good duo for the free flow of conversation as you enjoy the festivities specially arranged at the German restaurant in Dubai during the exciting period of Oktoberfest.

2

Crunchy Roast Chicken or Hendl

One of the fast-moving dishes at Oktoberfest everywhere Hendl is devoured with delight by scores of people enjoying the festivities, especially after a few litres of beer. The speciality of this roast chicken is that it is tantalisingly golden and crisp as it gets a good rub of butter flavoured with lemon and thyme before being spit roasted. Splitting the crispy skin and savouring the moist chicken is a delightful experience whilst downing a beer at these festivities.

3

Savour roasted Pork Knuckle

Considered to be one of the classic dishes of famous Bavaria, a state in the southeast of Germany, roasted pork knuckle or Schweinhaxe as it is locally known in Germany, is synonymous with Oktoberfest. This indulging and flavourful dish is served with plenty of gravy and very often with a Knodel, a steamed dumpling usually made from flour, bread or potatoes or a variation of the same at many restaurants such as Ernst Biergarten, especially to provide the authentic aura of the Oktoberfest festivities.

4

Revel in the wurst experience

Wursts or sausages are in galore at any Oktoberfest making it almost a wurst festival too. This is an ideal opportunity to let yourself loose on your wurst cravings. Therefore, treat yourself to a variety of wursts at this amazing festival. Try to be more informed about each type of sausage or wurst you order. Out of about 1200 varieties available in Germany, many different versions are offered in different parts of the world at Oktoberfest festivities. Bockwurst, WeiBwurst, Knackwurst and Bratwurst are some of the top favourites whilst there will be variations and many others you can indulge in.
