5 Best and most beautiful places in Zambia – Time to prepare your dream itinerary

Sitting at the very heart of Africa, Zambia is host to a plethora of stunning locations. Here is a couple you need to add to your list!

1

Victoria Falls

You cannot visit Zambia and not stop by Victoria Falls, it's almost uncustomary to do so! Book a room at Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara, a very well-known Livingstone hotel. Victoria Falls will leave you dumbstruck, as it sits at a height of a whopping 355 feet and stretches over a mile in terms of width! This magnificent waterfall is located right between Zambia and Zimbabwe, on the Zambezi river. Apart from taking in the beautiful views, you can also experience bungee jumping and white-water rafting. You can also take a ride in a helicopter to witness the falls from high above!

2

Lusaka

As the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka has plenty to offer, especially if it's your first time. Home to over 2 million people, this is the financial and economic hub of the country. With plenty of funky hang-out spots to chill in, you can either start or end your adventure in Zambia here. You can also head to the suburbs of the city and drop in at the Lilayi Elephant nursery, where orphaned elephants are rescued and rehabilitated. Spend some time at Zambia's National Museum to discover its history and put your bargaining skills to the test at the Sunday crafts market.

3

Kafue National Park

A trip to Zambia is incomplete without experiencing a national park or two, and Kafue national park is rightfully dubbed the 'crown' of national parks in Zambia. The oldest national park in the country, having been founded in 1924, Kafue National Park spans a whopping 22,400 square kilometres! Home to varying landscapes such as dense forests, Busanga plains and wetlands, the park is home to a vast number of animals. Boasting the largest crocodiles in southern Africa, if you're lucky you will also get to spot wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, hippos and a sneaky cheetah or two. The best part is that Kafue can be reached quite easily by road from either Lusaka or Livingstone.

4

Lake Kariba

This scenic area is going to remind you of a Disney movie, but not only is it beautiful to see, but it's also the largest man-made reservoir on earth! Created in the 1950s, you're going to quite easily mistake this 139-mile-long body of water for the ocean. If you're looking for an adventure, you can choose to stay on a houseboat on the lake, which puts you right in the centre of all the action.

5

Lower Zambezi National Park

The ideal way to see this park in all its glory is to go by canoe. This picturesque reserve sits alongside the Zambezi River and is home to a multitude of wildlife. Your experience will be elevated as you pass by the submerged hippos and Nile crocodiles.
