First spring cubs of the year showed up today to play in the mud as her mom dug some clams, she was nursing them when we first saw her from the boat, Another Nat Geo day out in bear country.
Found the Sow with her spring cubs again , she nursed her cubs 50 yards from us and dug some clams, but she made us work for it walking well over 3 miles across mud flats just to get to her and then mile back to boat Thru deep soft mud and knee deep water , well worth it and a great workout.

Mama brings her cubs out for a play date on the beach, eats a little salad, cubs and mom play ring around the Rosie, then back to the beach cubs do a little gymnastics on a drift wood log and then go up on a hill to drink a little milk, what an incredible Nat Geo type of day.
Highest number of bears of the season today total of 22, with two sets of twin cubs, digging up some seafood, one bear tried to catch an otter, juvenile siblings play fighting, sow with her twins eating some salad and nursing her cubs, had to push through some rough water both ways but well with it.

Good to be back with the bears, after all the bad weather the last week, this sow with cubs had disappeared for a while after losing one of her cubs to another bear, in late July the other 2 sure have grown since I last saw them.
Bear 2, gill netter 0, Bear wins, as the boat pull his net 4 times with no salmon but the bear gets 2, That’s what he gets when they block the stream mouths with their nets.
Some days you just need be patient and wait for the bears to come to you, this one swam out to the boat to greet us, he was looking for fish.
