The beautiful Edwardian palace of Richmond Castle, located near the city of Kalutara, is a must-see in Sri Lanka. It took ten years, from 1900 to 1910, for this popular home to be constructed and become the administrative headquarters of Mudaliyar Don Arthur de Silva Wijesinghe Siriwardena. Today, it remains one of the region's most popular tourist spots. This two-story structure contains 16 rooms with 34 windows and 99 entrances that appeal to all guests. As a Sri Lankan architectural masterpiece, its construction remained unique. Its important components, such as its Italian floor titles, Burmese teaks grape vines, glass décors from Scotland, and bathroom fittings and iron stairs from England, were imported from several countries.
