Summer is a time when kids can spend time learning, enjoying, exploring, and making memories while they are away from school. There are so many different ways that they can enjoy this time with family and friends.
Summer vacations are long, and you can kick it off by planting some seeds and encouraging the kids to water them and constantly check on their growth. Keep in mind to plant seeds of a tree that will grow soon as this will allow the plant to grow during the summer. Encourage the kids to take pictures and keep records of the dates on which they're taken so they can observe the growth during the vacation.
Children love to do what adults are doing, so summer is a great time to encourage children to experiment with cooking. If you are baking, get the kids involved with measuring the ingredients, adding them to the bowl or even checking the timer. Once you have baked or finished making the dish, get them involved in decorating the dish and setting the table. This will make them feel involved and proud of themselves.
Instil the habit of upcycling and reusing at an early age so that children will do that as a practice when they grow up. You can encourage them to repurpose their old clothes to make clothing items for their pets or dolls or to use delivery boxes as storage boxes for their shoes and toys. Adults can encourage children to decorate these boxes and make them look pretty to blend in with the rest of the interior.
Take a walk around the neighbourhood, go on a hike, go fishing, join a beach clean-up group, or find any other way to spend time outdoors. While these might seem obvious suggestions, these are some things that most people forget to do nowadays since everyone gets hooked on their online games and computer games during vacation. While it is alright to play games on and off, it is important to spend time outdoors as well.
This is one of the wonderful things to do with family when children are on summer vacation. If you have space in your garden, prepare an area where you can lay blankets, have some snacks out with some lights and blankets to keep you safe from the cold and spend time with your family while trying to spot different star signs. It will be a wonderful time to spend time away from electronic devices and bond with one another.
Reading books is always fun when you are doing it together with your children. What can be more exciting is selecting a series of books that have the same characters in them, so the adventures and journey seem continuous. On certain days, you can even decide to dress up as some characters in the book and make it more interesting.
