1

Uncover the treasures of Valee de Mai

A prehistoric forest declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this beautiful forest in Praslin is full of hiking trails. If you are a nature lover it is worth hiring a guide to learn about the endemic fauna and flora of the archipelago and take those trails of interest to you. Considered one of the best things to do in Praslin this visit will give you the chance to encounter the Giant Coco de Mer Fruit Palm, a type of tree you only find in Seychelles.

2

Tour the Takamaka Rum Distillery

Set in an old plantation house with scenic surroundings on Mahe Island, a visit to this distillery is indeed a memorable experience as enjoyed by visitors at Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas. You can do the tour on your own or join the scheduled free of charge tours happening thrice daily covering the distillery, the historical property and the large garden ending with a tasting of rum. Relish their rum cocktail and round it off with a mouthwatering meal at the La Plaine St Andre restaurant and bar. On your way out purchase this wonderful brew which is their way of taking the flavours of Seychelles to the world.

Visit the capital city Victoria

Known as one of the smallest capital cities in the world, this city of only 20 square kilometres is located on Mahe Island the biggest island in the Seychelles archipelago. Tiny in size yet loaded with many features to entice the curious traveller. It is a green city with lush tropical forests covering the hills surrounding the city. Bustling local markets, souvenir shops, charming houses, the mini Big Ben clock tower and the tall Hindu Temple can be easily covered by foot. Take time to explore the temple to admire the intricate details and sculptures. The National History Museum is another important attraction you can cover.

4

Be wowed by Anse Source d'Argent Beach

Situated on La Digue Island this spectacular beach is a sight to behold and savour. Accessing the beach through the L'Union Coconut Estate, you encounter gleaming white sands being lapped by shallow sea-green waters, clear blue skies, and random boulders of granite against a backdrop of gently swaying coconut palms making it the picture-perfect slice of paradise for yourself. However, it can be somewhat crowded hence get there early to soak in the beauty of the sunrise as you enjoy the beach and the waves. While you are on this island take time to bike around to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Enjoy the Morne Seychellois National Park

This national park of lush virgin forest, mangroves and tall mountain ranges covers 20 per cent of the land area of Mahe Island. An extensive network of trails is available covering more than 15 kilometres. Whilst visiting the park is encouraged the authorities are vigilant in protecting the ecosystem by minimising human intrusions. Indigenous fauna and flora including many varieties of birds have been sighted at this park making the trail one of learning and discovery.
