FantaSea is a nighttime theme park that focuses on retelling the origins of Kamala. It is a show of colour, lights, and grandeur and is bound to captivate everyone.
The FantaSea show narrates the tale of Kamala. The story is set in a mystical palace at the heart of the wilderness, quite different from present-day Kamala. This enormous stage show is displayed in an extensive theme park near Kamala Beach. The show has been going on in Phuket for over 20 years and still plays to full houses each day. FantaSea welcomes millions of locals and travellers from all over the globe every year to witness this stunning performance.
Located just a 25-minute drive away from Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, FantaSea park grounds are huge and made to delight you for hours on end prior to the show. Here, you can visit the many shops and do a bit of shopping or relax at the numerous coffee shops. There are several funfairs to keep the children engaged. There are chances to win stuffed animals at the multiple game booths available at the park. FantaSea grounds are tastefully designed to depict Thai legends, folklore, and history. There are unlimited photo opportunities for those looking for the right ambience to capture the perfect pose. There are several restaurants available in the main building where you can relax with a meal before the show starts. If you're holidaying at luxury hotels in Phuket, this is the perfect place to hang out with your loved ones after a long day.
The crowd pours into the theatre once the showtime is announced! Seats, of course, will have to be booked in advance; however, there is usually a massive rush to the entrance line. Visitors cannot take pictures once inside; they must keep their cameras on one of the dedicated counters – the management is quite strict on this!
The enormous theatre can accommodate around 3,000 people. Generally, the back seats and 2nd-floor seats will not have a great viewing point! You can expect to see the whole show but at a smaller range. If you get the 'gold seat', the views will be much better! And it doesn't cost a lot either, but availability will be the issue, so book early!
It begins with a procession of large elephants strolling near the audience, and later traditional dancers clad in Thai dress. It's unique and surreal, perhaps the highlight of the performance. The show commences once everyone arrives at the podium in a grand exhibition of lights and sound. The play recounts the beginnings of Kamala with performers, dancers, and gymnasts performing gracefully in the well-directed show. Thai angels flying above alongside the antics of the acrobats circling over the spectators is quite spectacular. There are some scary-looking clowns as well!
The Park and the show are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The show is scheduled to be held at 8:00 p.m.
