3 Ways to physically protect your business

Operating a small business in the center of town in Utah can be risky. Business-wise, it is a sound decision due to the prime real estate and close proximity to paying customers, but it is a risky move because it puts your business in danger of gun violence. It may be difficult to find the time to make room for some safety procedures, but you cannot be too careful with the people passing by your shop every day. Investing in security and even a small gun safe will contribute to the safety.

Having a gun safe in the back adds a feeling of security to your business. Convenience store managers in Utah often have guns hanging on racks underneath the countertops, but this is not often necessary. Installing a gun safe in the corner, along with teaching certain employees gun use and safety, will help prevent criminals from breaking and entering.

Installing security cameras around the perimeter will allow for two things: one, the employee watching the cameras will be able to lock down the vicinity if they spot intruders, and two, any intruders that break in will have their faces recorded by camera. Showing camera film archives to the Utah Police Department will ensure that your criminal will be caught.

Strategic lighting

Lighting up key areas of your building will make it harder for criminals to break in without getting spotted. It also discourages them from entering a building at night that is still full of people, for the lighting will make them easily recognized. Keeping the lights on all night at your building may cost money, but think of it as anti-burglar insurance. So long as you keep the lights on, burglars will be less likely to break in.
