Essential things to pack for your holiday in Sri Lanka – Be smart and pack wise to enjoy your holiday to the fullest!

The tropical island of Sri Lanka is known for tea, beautiful beaches, majestic elephants and a vibrant mix of cultures. It is also called Serendipity, thus expect to be pleasantly surprised during your holiday and pack your suitcase with care to enjoy it to the fullest.

1

Protection from the sun and mosquitoes

These are musts on this tropical island, as your holiday covers many places to visit in Kalutara and the beach is high on the list of places to cover. Although sunscreen and after-sun lotions, as well as mosquito repellents, are available in Sri Lanka it is best to bring your own to not waste time making purchases and you may have a preference already, so carry them with you,

2

Sturdy and flat footwear

Sandals are ideal to let your feet breathe, however, slip-on breathable shoes are fine too. Select one which dries up fast in case you encounter those unexpected but welcome showers as enjoyed by guests at Anantara Kalutara Resort. Slip-on and sandals are ideal as visiting temples and spa centres you need to remove footwear. Jelly slippers or sandals are fine too.

3

Your clothing

Having warm and humid weather most of the time, it is essential to carry light clothing, cottons are preferable. T-Shirts, longish shorts, loose pants, and dresses are ideal. Remember that less is best when you pack your suitcase. This means packing clothing which can be used multiple times by wash and wear, with the tropical climate drying is easy or there are many 'wash and dry' centres you can opt to use. A word of caution, have a shawl, a sarong or a long dress covering your knees if you intend to visit places of worship as modesty in dress is appreciated. If you plan to visit the hill country in Sri Lanka where temperatures are much cooler, have a few light warm pieces of clothing packed too.

4

Remember the handy Backpack

This can be your carry on bag on the flight, it is worth investing in a waterproof one so that it can become your beach bag or the pool bag too when required. Additionally have a smaller day bag or pouch to hold all your valuables which can be kept on your person all the time.

5

A windproof umbrella and waterproof jacket

These are quite useful to have in case you encounter heavy showers whilst on the move. Buy ones which can be easily packed into your suitcase.

6

Bathing gear

In addition to your bikini, have a bathing suit so that you are geared to go swimming too. The backpack becomes a useful holdall when you are visiting a beach away from your hotel, to take your beach towel, blanket and sunscreens etc securely with you.

7

Other essentials

It is always better to be prepared, hence remember to pack hand sanitiser, face masks, a phone charger, your hotel address and contact numbers printed or the hotel card. Armed with these, you are sure to have a roaring time in Sri Lanka.
