The Eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites You Need to Visit

Sri Lanka may be a relatively small island nation, but it’s blessed with a rich history and stunning natural beauty which can be experienced on visits to its eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Each of these tourist attractions in Sri Lanka has different tales to tell and offers much to explore and experience. On the south coast, within easy reach of properties of Reveal the Collection, is the well-preserved Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications that were a stronghold during Dutch colonial rule. In the area known as the Cultural Triangle is the iconic Sigiriya rock fortress, the ancient cities of Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura and the impressive Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple. In the hill country, you will find the Sacred City of Kandy, while there are two nature-based UNESCO sites on the island as well, namely the Sinharaja Forest Reserve and the Central Highlands.
