In the area known as the Cultural Triangle is the iconic Sigiriya rock fortress, the ancient cities of Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura and the impressive Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple. In the hill country, you will find the Sacred City of Kandy, while there are two nature-based UNESCO sites on the island as well, namely the Sinharaja Forest Reserve and the Central Highlands.
