Oman is a perfect family destination that offers seemingly endless things to do with kids. Read on to find out which activities you should consider doing as a family on your next visit to this incredible destination.

1

Play in the sand dunes

No visit to Oman is complete without carving out the time to visit the desert to give your kids the chance to play among the dunes. For those keen on checking out the towering dunes, do consider heading out either during the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the scorching mid-day heat. Upon visiting, kids can spend literally hours racing up and down the dunes. Parents won't have to worry about any injuries as the sand is soft and promises to cushion any rough tumbles and falls.

2

Cool off at the natural pools at Wadi Bani Khalid

After tumbling and rolling down the sandy dunes, consider heading to the Wadi Bani Khalid, a deep valley home to a series of beautiful pools shaded by date palms. One of the more adventurous and interesting things to do in Muscat, the journey through the picturesque mountains to reach this particular spot itself promises to be scenic too. Upon reaching simply follow an easy path that leads through the gouge till you reach a pool which you would like to splash about. There are also plenty of rocks and ledges where one can cannonball into the water. The first pool is large and popular with visitors while the second while being smaller, offers some truly panoramic views of the canyon below.

Visit Jabrin Fort

Featuring a seemingly endless series of meandering staircases, rooms, lookout points and weathered battlements, Jabrin Fort is perhaps one of the more interesting spots to visit in Oman and is full of history waiting to be explored and learned. It's the ideal place to allow kids to take their time and explore on their own while listening to an audio tour. If you happen to be visiting with toddlers, do be mindful as there are a few odd drops inside the fort that might be risky for children under the age of 5. If you are keen on visiting most hotels in Oman such as Al Falaj Hotel will be to arrange a visit upon the request of their guests.

4

Ride a camel

If you are after making sure your kids take part in a quintessential desert experience then a camel ride is a must. Known as the ships of the desert, a ride upon a camel is definitely not dangerous and will prove to be an ideal way to explore the desert at a slower pace.
