Crowned Chef of the Year by Tourism Accommodation Australia in 2016, Mate (ex-Hydro Majestic) is a veteran chef of the Blue Mountains and beyond. Mate was born into a family of cooks, learning skills and passion for the kitchen from his mother, and turning over soil and growing fruit and vegetables in the garden with his father. Using fresh garden produce is the fundamental inspiration for Mate’s cooking - and makes Blaq one of the best restaurants in the Blue Mountains
