Things To Do for an Unforgettable Vacation in Yala – The wilderness of Sri Lanka never disappoints

One of the best things about Sri Lanka is that it offers visitors the opportunity to explore the wilderness and witness, intimately, the greatness of the diverse creatures that inhabit this tiny island. From leopards, and elephants to cultural landmarks, Sri Lanka has it all.

1

Buduruwagala

The beautiful rock-cut Buddha figures are thought to be the most popular thing to do in Yala. They are almost 1,000 years old. Among the tallest things on the island is a huge Buddha that stands 15 metres tall. You can still see its unique adhesive robe, as well as a long splash of orange colour. This shows that it was once decorated with bright colours. The next part of the room is filled with smaller carved statues. Getting a guide before you go in to see these huge old carvings and giving him a small tip is important.
This can be found close to many a Yala hotel such as the Cinnamon Wild Yala and is always going to be on the itineraries of visitors to this part of the island.

2

Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple

This old Buddhist temple was established in the 1870s to provide shelter to Aluthgama Sangharatne devotees who had come to hear the Monk's discourses. The temple is only 3.5 kilometres from the park and is a must-see after a day spent exploring Yala National Park. This hallowed temple's peaceful tranquilly and gorgeous architecture make it worth seeing because it is unlike any other temple.

3

Yala National Park

Relaxation comes from nature and wildlife, but what else can do that? There are a lot of people on safari tours in Yala who work hard to make their trips as eco-friendly as possible. The Safari takes you to the centre of Sri Lanka's Yala biodiversity, where you can go deep into the forest. The sight of these magnificent creatures wandering through the depths of nature is breath-taking and simply stunning to see. The birdlife is also very beautiful. There are safaris that let you see leopards, elephants and birds, as well as a lot more.

4

The Okanda Devalaya

Okanda Devalaya is among the top tourist attractions in Yala, Sri Lanka. It is a small village on the east coast of the country. Okanda Devalaya is a gateway to the Kumana National Park. If you believe what the people of faith say, God Skanda was the first person to sail into Sri Lanka in a "Ran Oru Gala," a solid gold boat that turned into a rock. It is thought of as a place where pilgrims go. Okanda is where pilgrims stop for a while before going to Kumana National Park and thereafter Yala National Park.

5

The landmark of Kataragama

People think Kataragama is indeed one of the best places to visit in Yala. This sacred town is a mix of reverence and crowds, piety, and sacred lush. Kataragama is one of Sri Lanka's most important places of worship. Buddhism, Muslims, Hindus, and the Vedas all believe that a religious city is a special place where they can pray. As soon as you get there, you can breathe in the magical scent. During the months of July and August, a lot of pilgrims come to pay their respects.
