What to Pack for Your Vacation in Phuket? - For an unforgettable island escapade!

Phuket is perhaps the most famous of all the Thai islands! The gorgeous beaches, nightlife and lush tropical environment are the perfect combinations. Get your packing essentials right, to make your holiday perfect.

1

Essentials

Visas or any travel papers are required along with good travel insurance that provides maximum coverage. Sufficient cash and credit/debit cards are must-haves. ATMs are widely available, so you don't have to carry large amounts. A universal travel adapter would be useful, and in Thailand the typical is B/C and Type O power sockets, double flat, or double round.

2

Clothes

Phuket is hot and humid, so pack clothes that befit the tropical weather climate. Several pairs of comfortable shorts in light material such as cotton or soft denim. Bring along several cotton t-shirts, shirts or tank tops that are loose and comfortable. Ladies can pack a few flowery or cotton dresses. These will be perfect for the evenings, during dinner or just a stroll on the beach. You should, of course, pack something extra nice, like an evening dress or shirt if you are on a romantic holiday or if visiting a fancy restaurant.
In terms of swimming wear, bathing suits will be a given, as you will be travelling across the many beaches for sure. However, don't forget to pack a few extras and a nice cover-up, like a beach sarong. An extra will come in handy while the other one is drying. Don't forget to pack a long dress, sarong or loose cotton trousers if you want to visit the temples.

3

Shoes

A pair of flip flops will do for the beach nicely. Add an extra pair in case one gets wet or caked with sand. A comfortable pair of sandals or sneakers might also come in handy if you want to explore the island or go on some hikes.

4

Sun protection

Sun protection is vital, as the sun is very harsh in these regions. A nice wide brim beach hat, sunglasses, and loads of waterproof sunscreens are important. Make sure the sunscreens are environmentally sound, as some chemicals can cause corals to deteriorate over time.

5

First aid

Pack a small first aid kit with essential medication such as painkillers, cold medicine, mosquitoes/insect repellent, antiseptic, diarrhoea medication, plasters and any daily medication you may take with prescriptions.

6

Miscellaneous

If you love to snorkel, you can bring your own. Some Phuket resorts and luxury hotels may offer them as well but will be at an extra charge to you. Places like Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas are among some of the best on the island to consider.
Pack some laundry bags to collect all your wet clothes. The last thing you want is water and sand to engulf your luggage in case you can't get them dried for some reason. Also, pack a few books you have been meaning to read, instead of any electronics, and keep them at a minimum, except the most essential such as your phone, chargers, camera and some extra batteries. A reusable bottle of water and a small backpack can be arranged to be taken with you when exploring the island's attractions.
