A little out of Bentota, you'll come across Brief Garden by Bevis Bawa, brother of renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. In fact, the Brief Garden inspired Geoffrey to create his own gardens, called Lunuganga. The space has been open to the public since the 1970s, and you'll feel as if you've stepped into a fantasy novel the moment you enter. The wonderful space boasts many interesting and unique factors within it, and within its 20 acres, you'll pass by hundreds of fascinating flora and fauna. The garden was designed by Bevis Bawa in the late 60s and was once owned by his family. You'll notice the Frangipani tree at the entrance, which is the very first tree planted by Bevis, and it's said he designed the house and garden around it.
