Food you should try in Sri Lanka – Don’t miss out on all the delicious delights

When it comes to visiting Sri Lanka, one of the biggest things that catch the attention of people is the stunning cuisine that greets them upon arrival. The Sri Lankan cuisine is a versatile one that focuses on carbs, a healthy diversity of curries and plenty of spice to round it all up.

1

Fish Ambul Thiyal

This is one of the best and most unique fish dishes that you will come across when you are in Sri Lanka and perhaps anywhere else in the world.
It is no surprise that seafood plays a large role in the cuisine of this island nation, and each day a massive number of fish is consumed by Sri Lankans. It can be considered that from amongst the fish dishes that are present on the island, the ambul thiyal may be one of the preferred fish dishes around.
The main ingredient for this dish would likely be a hearty piece of meat, typically tuna, that gets cut up into chunks. These chunks are then mixed with a collection of spices that range from black pepper, turmeric and cinnamon to curry leaves, and most importantly of all, Goroka.
The Goroka is the special ingredient that gives the dish its sour flavour. Additionally, what makes this dish special is that it is a dry dish in a country where curry is the norm.
If you are on the island and spending time looking for Mirissa restaurants, be sure to try out the Sri Sharavi Beach Villas & Spa for some delicious food during your stay.
