Best Day Trips from Bangkok – Set out on your own adventure

When it comes to travelling, the best moment is forged when you chose to add a bit of variety to your itinerary. This means ensuring that you are going to set off into the relatively unknown, in the hopes of discovering not only the beauty that lies in store, but also within you.

1

Find the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

For many people the idea of leaving the comforts of the city on their vacation does not resonate as a good time. However, the reality is the best things on your vacation will lie just outside of your comfort zone. Therefore, take the time and effort to prepare for little expeditions that will yield rewards beyond your wildest dreams.
One such example is that stunning floating Market of Damnoen Saduak. This stunning landmark destination is a scene pulled out of a movie, with vendors and stores set alongside the floating houses in the middle of the river.

It is found just ninety minutes from Bangkok and is well worth a visit, especially if you are able to try some of the local Pad Thai and Coconut Ice cream.
If you are staying at a Bangkok city hotel such as the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, be sure to ask the staff to help with finding transport to and from the market.

2

Ayutthaya

This is one of the more ancient cities that is now regarded as a certified UNESCO World Heritage Site. Seeping with history, this city was once the capital of Siam and makes for a stunning experience as a day trip from the city centres of Bangkok. With large relics and statues of the past still standing, there is no better place to understand that complexity of the ancient civilizations that existed before us.

There are several temples that can be found within this city, and each is as amazing as the last. If you are making your way to this ancient city, be sure to bring a bottle of water to tackle the heat and wear some sturdy shoes to traverse the rocky relics.

3

Visit the Kanchanaburi

This temple is found roughly 130km west of the city centres of Bangkok and is in close vicinity to the famous bridge on the river Kwai. The trip will likely take up most of your day but, the experience of learning about the Death Railway and the story behind it is emotional to say the least.

4

Pattaya

This is one of the most popular destinations that visitors flock to in order to enjoy the best of the local beaches, nightlife and restaurants. This was once a sleepy fishing village but it has over time transformed beyond recognition.

5

An ideal getaway for a day is the Rose Garden Thai Village. This is home to some of the best manicured gardens that can be found in the Southeast Asia. It is also a great opportunity to witness the traditional dances, visit some traditional Thai houses as well as a handicraft market.
