When they get off a flight, they are immediately transported to a world where there are no limits and that ingenuity of design as well as extravagance reigns supreme. In a city such as this, the delights that await are endless!

The stunning Masdar City

For the majority of the world, one of the largest threats to humanity lies in the devastation that may occur if climate change is not recognized by governments as a legitimate threat to their economy.
It was with this idea in mind that a company in the UAE called 'Masdar' decided to develop a city that was completely sustainable and could be proclaimed as being 100% green.
It is no small claim to say that a city emits no greenhouse gases but with a massive amount of investment, they have achieved what is considered night impossible.
Now with a 100% green transportation grid being planned with the clean energy, they are creating, the future seems bright. If you are staying at one of the resorts in Abu Dhabi such as the Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara be sure to make a journey to Masdar City to see what the future might look like.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Many people may not know this, but along with being one of the most beautiful architectural achievements in modern times, it is also home to the world's largest carpet.
This fascinating piece of design is found inside the prayer hall and weighs close to 35 tons and is approximately 60,000 square feet. Moreover, the prayer room of this $545 million behemoth also contains chandeliers that are decked with Swarovski crystals.
The mosque was built in the memory of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who is considered by many to be the father of the nation, having acted as their first president and elevated the nation to meet the modern world.
