Things to do in Cambodia with Kids – Unwind in the serenity

For the most part, a journey to Cambodia is going to be nothing short of spectacular with plenty of things to do. However, when you are travelling with kids, the experience is sure to heighten into being a moment in time to be cherished forever. Settle in for an adventure of a lifetime!

1

Visit the village of Tonle Sap Lake

This village is unique in its making, there is a range of reasons for its beauty but at the forefront is that it is built on stilts in the middle of a lake. The Tonle Sap Lake is a freshwater lake in the South Eastern Asian region and there are several stilt villages that survive on the fishing economy that is present.
If you are staying at a luxury hotel in Siem Reap such as Anantara Angkor Resort, be sure to create an itinerary that can include the transportation services to be at the village in time for sunrise or be back after sunset.

2

Bike through the Angkor Wat ruins

One of the best things that a kid can do is to ensure that their minds are constantly stimulated and also introduced to new cultures, the lessons of history and evidence of ancient civilizations that came before us.
The Angkor Wat is one of the most iconic temple complexes in Cambodia and is recognized as a world heritage site. While the walk through the entire temple may take a lot of time, many families opt to cycle through it! This is ideal because it will allow your kids to be engaged throughout the entire visit but also allow them to see the entire temple and its ruins.
It is also recommended to find one of the less-visited ruins to avoid the crowds and catch a glimpse of the sunset.

3

Take them ziplining

When it comes to kids and holidays, the ones they remember may not be the ones where they simply got to relax by the beach. Their minds are young and can be filled with a need for adventure, so if your kids are like this, then taking them ziplining may be the best thing to do.
Located right next to Angkor Wat is a zip-line eco-park where you will be able to enjoy zipping through the jungle treetops.

4

Take the bamboo train

In the second largest city of Cambodia, Battambang, there is a bamboo train that is famous amongst kids. This is referred to as the Norrie, and amidst the French architecture and the cafés of the city, kids will be delighted to be able to enjoy the gentle journey.

Cookery classes

For many kids, cooking classes are always a hit! It allows them to get their hands into ingredients, cut them up and try to prepare an actual dish. At the same time, it also teaches them about the culture, the smells and flavours of its food as well as allowing them to enjoy their own handiwork at the end of the lesson.
