Best ways to travel around Dubai – Make your way through city and desert!

The best thing about being in Dubai is there is plenty to see and do in the city and out in the desert. However, the best thing for people visiting is to build a basic awareness of the public transport and other variety of options available to make the most of your visit to this stunning city.

1

The Dubai Taxi

Like any other tax in the world, you will be well aware of the pros and cons of this mode of transport. While experiences may vary, the good news is that in Dubai taxis are relatively cheap and on the same price range as an Uber so you will never be out of options when trying to get from place to place.
The typical taxi will would generally be quite expensive in a well-developed city, the cabs in Dubai cost less than one euro per kilometre. Even if you were travelling with a group of five people you will easily be able to get around the city at your leisure.
If you are staying at any of the luxury hotels in Dubai such as the Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort they will also be able to assist you with finding a reliable taxi service during your stay as well.

2

Try out the metro

When it comes to getting somewhere fast, the metro in Dubai is the way to go. It helps you by beating the traffic and is ideal for travellers. Not only is it easy to navigate and efficient, it also has trains running at least every couple of minutes. The only downside of the metro is that there are a fixed number of places where you can grab a train and also that there is sometimes a long wait time at ticketing booths.
Be sure to purchase a red NOL card during your first visit and you can simply add any amount of money you have wish for the duration of your stay.

The Tram in Dubai

When travelling around Dubai, one of the ways people get around is by a tram. In order to use the tram, you will simply need to use the same card that you use for your metro journeys. The only downside is that at the moment the journey on the tram is fairly limited and only moves along the coast from The Walk to Al Sufouh.

4

The Dubai Monorail

The Monorail is also a popular mode of transport that is currently used to get to The Palm and it connects to the Palm Jumeirah station.
However, keep in mind that it is privately owned and requires a different type of ticket to use.

5

The Dubai Marina Water Bus

There are only 4 stops on this bus is still considered one of the most comfortable ways to get around the Marina. The only downside is that speed is not a part of the equation when using this mode of transportation.
It is a great experience when travelling with kids and also a good way to enjoy the Marina promenade as well.
