A List of Must Visit Beaches in or Near Broome – A Sandy Situation!

If you're looking for a coastal getaway, Broome is the ultimate beach town and perfect for your next holiday. It's home to some of the best beaches in Western Australia and its warm weather and easy-going vibes will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed. Here are some of the best beaches in Broome.

1

Cable Beach

Cable Beach is Western Australia's most popular white sandy beach. It gets its name from the telegraph cable which was laid under the sea from Broome to Indonesia in the 19th century. Apart from fishing, surfing and kayaking, there's something quite unusual which you can do at Cable Beach and that is to ride a camel! Make sure you also catch the incredible sunsets from this wide and unspoilt stretch of beach to relish a truly jaw-dropping moment.

2

Town Beach

This beach, as its name suggests is very conveniently located close to the centrally located accommodation in Broome and overlooks Roebuck Bay. What is unique about this stretch is the lovely light pink sand and the calm waters of the bay during the low tide. However, come high tide it's a surfer's paradise and you can expect to catch some great waves! Apart from lounging on the beach and surfing, there's also a pop-up night market which is held during certain times of the year.

3

Roebuck Bay Marine Park

This is one of Broome's foremost tourist attractions and it is also one of Australia's newest Marine Parks. Located a little north of Broome, this bay is brimming with diverse marine and plant life and is well worth a visit. The beaches here are spectacular shades of orange and red and serve as a striking contrast to the stunning blues of the sea and the lush greens of the mangroves. This beach is not just Instagram-worthy but pictures perfect, to say the least.

4

Entrance Point

Entrance Point is particularly scenic but as a result, it can get rather busy. It's particularly famous as it is a pet-friendly beach so you can expect to find plenty of dogs and their owners having a wonderful time on this stretch. The beach also is cradled by some staggering rock formations which set it apart. The Broome Fishing Club also makes Entrance Point a favourite spot among avid fishing enthusiasts and a hub of activity in Broome for the fishing community.

5

Riddell Beach

A mere 10-minute drive from Oaks Broome Hotel, this is the perfect spot for those who want to avoid the crowds which frequent the more popular beaches. It's considered to be one of Broome's better-kept secrets and is a favorite among the locals as well. The beach boasts of a pristine sandy stretch, and stunning craggy red rocks. It truly is a secluded and peaceful beach worth checking out when you're in Broome.

6

Gantheaume Point

If you're up for a drive, head on past Cable Beach until you reach the popular Gantheaume Point, which is famous not only for its red rocks, lighthouse but also its dinosaur and plant fossils! The visitor's point offers plenty of information about the fossils as well making this an exciting and informative detour if you're looking to explore beaches a little outside of Broome.
