Nine Arches Bridge

The Nine Arches Bridge is among the most photographed attractions in Sri Lanka. The Bridge is located in between Ella and Demodara Station. It was built during the time of the British colonial period, mainly to transport tea to Colombo. According to an interesting story, during construction at the height of World War I the engineers ran out of steel. The Sri Lankans however, continued using stone and bricks to complete the project. The result is the eye-catching nine arched bridge, that stood the test of time in terms of strength. A great pit-stop for some lovely pictures and don't forget to sight the daily train crossing from the bridge.

Ella Rock

Climbing Ella Rock is the most popular hiking trails for visitors to Ella. The trek takes about three hours; however, you will hardly notice the time trekking through the lush, mist-filled mountains. On the way, you will encounter verdant tea plantations and more breathtaking views. At sunrise the summit is magical, a view of the fiery sun rising over misty hills is a sight you won't forget anytime soon.

Ritigala Monastery

Ritigala is nature reserve and a mountain with an ancient past. It used to be a meditation monastery and its surrounding jungles is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Located 43 km from Anuradhapura it remains hidden inside thick jungles. Many legends abound this place, dating all the way back to the Ramayana period. Discover the remnants of the ancient Buddhist monastery dating back to the 3rd century BCE. There are over 70 caves that were used by the meditative monks.

Sinharaja Rainforest

It is Sri Lanka's only remaining virgin rainforest and is home to thriving endemic biodiversity. The Sinharaja rainforest is designated as a World Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located within the Sabaragamuwa and Southern Province of Sri Lanka, the rainforest homes many species of animals as Sri Lankan leopard, purple-faced langur, red slender loris, and Sri Lankan elephant among others. Due to the dense vegetation, it is difficult to spot these animals. The forest is also a goldmine for endemic plants and herbs.

Pasikuda Beach

Located on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka's Pasikuda Beach is among the most beautiful you will encounter on the island. This picture postcard-worthy beach has swaying palm trees, powder-fine sandy beach, and crystal-clear blue waters. The beach is perfect for diving, swimming and snorkelling.
