5 Tips for Traveling with kids in Dubai – An ideal family destination

Travelling with kids can seem like a challenge but destinations like Dubai are just perfect for families to travel, with plenty of kid friendly attractions and facilities all around.

1

Make a list

Don't wait to pack until the last moment. Make a list of the stuff you truly need. If travelling with infants, there is no point in packing cartons of baby formula if it is available at the destination. Pack enough to last a day or two. The same applies to other essentials like nappies. However, do not forget to pack your kids favourite toys and comforters! Other necessities such as car seats can be prearranged in advancement with your airport pick-up.

2

Get an insurance that covers pandemic-related problems

No cover is entirely complete, but it is worth considering travel insurance that provides coverage if you or your family fall ill during your holiday. Most policies will compensate if flights get cancelled or in the event, anybody in the family tests positive prior to departure. Some may even cover if you need to self-isolate for a period that overlays with your vacation. Travelling has become quite unpredictable nowadays, so it is best suited to be well prepared, with a good cover.

3

Where to stay

In Dubai, most hotels are very child-friendly, and some will go to extra lengths to cater to children with kids' clubs, child-care facilities and more. Dubai has a plethora of theme parks, water parks, beaches, shopping malls, some within hotels and others in close proximity to some of the major hotels. Thus, kids will rarely be bored and unenthused by their surroundings. One can find many in Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai, hotels such as the Avani Ibn Battuta Hotel in Dubai can be a sound option as well.
However, when looking at bookings, go for those with flexible booking options that allow you to cancel or postpone without any penalties. And if possible book a place which has a refundable option, in case an emergency strikes and you won't be able to make it.

What to do

Apart from the theme parks, there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids and adults entertained.
The Green Planet, is an indoor rain forest, learn about animals and trees and the fascinating creatures that live there. Aventura Park in Jumeirah is also a nature park, but with a focus on physical activities ideal for active pre-teens.
A desert safari will be an exciting ride via the dunes. One can get near camels, do some sand surfing, henna artwork and much more. If that doesn't sound exciting enough, try a mountain safari in Hatta.

5

Where to eat

Children can be finicky eaters for sure, but Dubai's eclectic food culture can please even the most fastidious of palates. Malls in Dubai are great because they have such large food courts with a multitude of options. Get to choose either from fast food, healthier options, or ethnic cuisine such as Lebanese, Indian, or Chinese among many others. Malls have fast-casual dining alternatives as well, and these are specifically suited for families.
Most of the best restaurants in Dubai are in hotels, and nearly all will have a children's menu and will be glad to accommodate any special requests for special dishes or modifications. Atlantis, The Palm is a great place to explore during meal times, of course, the sheer number can leave you overwhelmed, which is a different problem altogether!
