Morne Trois Pitons National Park

The park is among the treasures of Dominica and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounding most of the island's interior, it consists mostly of primordial rainforests. One can find dense jungle, with enormous ferns and wild orchids, and cloud forests on the higher inclines of Morne Trois Pitons 1,424-meters.
Highlights include gorgeous lakes, such as Boiling Lake, the misty Boeri Lake, and various scenic waterfalls including, Victoria Waterfall, Emerald Pool, Middleham Falls and Trafalgar Falls.
At Titou Gorge, swim in a crystalline jade-green pool from the narrow gorge to a stunning waterfall.

The Valley of Desolation

Also found in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, this interesting area is full of scalding ponds of mud, colourful hot springs, and mini-geysers. Almost provides a glimpse into what prehistoric earth may have looked like!

The Beaches

The beaches in Dominica are predominantly those with volcanic black sand, the sand can look grey, based on the light.
Mero Beach is a popular stretch of coast, and around a 25-minute drive away from the capital city, Roseau. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and snacks can be bought from the bamboo shacks near the shore.
If in Portsmouth, which is Dominica's second-largest city, go to Purple Turtle Beach. This lovely stretch is dotted with palm trees and beige-coloured sand. Champagne Beach is famous for its frothy geothermal activity and temperate waters. Don't forget to bring shoes to the beaches, as the black sand can get hot!

Batibou Beach

It is among the remotest beaches on the island located on the northern coast and deserves a special mention. A 4WD vehicle is required to traverse along the rocky tracks.
Batibou has dense groves of coconut palms framing the sand, and the promontory turns. This beach was a location for one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies! The unspoiled location is a dream for all beach lovers. There is a 5$ entrance fee for visitors.

Roseau

Bounded by dense peaks, the capital city of Dominica, Roseau is a kaleidoscope of West Indian houses and active market stalls, with a laid-back vibe. One won't encounter flashy shops or chain stores, unlike other Caribbean capital cities. Most shops are owned by the locals.

Roseau's features a waterside boardwalk and cruise ship port, which gets crowded during the winter. Close to the dock is the epicentre of the town. It is where to find the Old Market selling fresh vegetables, tropical fruits, herbs, and coconut-shell souvenirs.

St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral

St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral is a Gothic-Romanesque-style church dating back to the 19th century. It is among the city's pivotal landmarks.

Other popular attractions include the Dominica Botanic Gardens and understanding the history of the island at the Dominica Museum. Here, find exhibits on the slave trade, and displays on Creole and Amerindian culture. Visitors can also make a short drive to Morne Bruce for scenic vistas of the city. One can walk there from the botanic gardens as well. Caribbean Flights such as the interCaribbean Airways fly regularly to the city.
