Dalada Maligawa which is the temple of the tooth relic

The most popular attraction in Kandy is undoubtedly the Temple of the Tooth relic which is commonly known as the Dalada Maligawa. While this stunning building used to be the palace for the last Kind of Ceylon before it was colonised it is now home to the tooth relic. The Bahirawakanda Temple is a significant location in Kandy as it has a seated Buddha Statue that can be witnessed from many locations around Kandy. The statue was built in a way that it is facing the temple of the tooth relic and over the years it has been painted in a bright gold colour and a serene white.
