Not all these songs are recent. I love my old tunes so you will find quite the collection. Many of these songs have a personal meaning for me which I will go into below, some I just really like because of the tunes or the wording. Follow me for more lists. Fun Fact: I was playing my playlist down the river with a group of people one day and they asked if I had split personalities. My playlist is THAT random. This is a comprehensive list of the best songs to listen to when you are breaking up. I would love you to contribute your suggestions and to vote for your favourites. You might be thinking this one has personal significance for me considering the lyrics but the truth is I just absolutely LOVE her voice. Have I had someone cheat on me? Absolutely. Do I want the same thing to happen to him? Not really. Did you read that and think I'm some kind of saint? You're wrong. People recover from being cheated on. They learn they grow as a person, they go on to have successful, fulfilling relationships. Why would I want that for him?
I understand that forgiveness is absolutely the gift you give yourself but so much of the messaging today is that swallowing your feelings is the best course of action, that anger is in some way BAD, and that you are failing if you feel it or haven't forgiven fast enough. Forgiveness happens in its own time and at its own pace. It's not something I need to force to try and prove something to myself or others about how noble or kind, or emotionally mature I am.
Reminds me of one of my best friends Lou who made us sing this every time Karaoke was on when we went out in our early 20's. Our singing sucked but our dance moves were on point. For this reason, this song makes me REALLY HAPPY whenever I hear it.
Great break-up song for leaving a toxic relationship. Most of us can relate to some extent. With lyrics like below, Most of us can relate.
"Must be addicted to all this pain
'Cause I keep coming back for the shame
Dear God, give me the strength to leave
I've got to keep going, keep going this time"
Miley and Stevie remixed together. What a wonderful combination. Besides both being amazing artists, this is probably the most uplifting break-up song out there. Great for moving on. I mean the BEST lyrics for moving one, right?
"Yeah, it's been a long night and the mirror's tellin' me to go home (home)
But it's been a long time since I felt this good on my own".
and
"She got her hair pulled back 'cause the sweat's drippin' off of her face (her face)
Said it ain't so bad if I wanna make a couple mistakes".
The best break up lyrics!
Fun fact. Post break-up I rented a holiday house on an island for six months and sung this song all day, every day. Love it.
