Beautiful places to visit in Oman - Make your Omani moments more colourful

While Oman may not a traditional choice for a vacation, there is plenty to do in the country if you are ready to explore. From nature adventures to beautiful architecture and cultural monuments, there is a lot to see and do in Oman.

1

The Sultan Qaboos Mosque

Situated in Muscat, this is usually on the list of every Oman traveler. It is magnificent with space for over 20,000 devotees. The most striking feature in the mosque is the mammoth rug that is seen. It is said that it took over 600 women over 4 years to weave this beautiful rug. The architecture of the mosque is awe-inspiring with tall pillars, arches that open up to beautiful gardens. The marble floors add an element of luxury to the whole place. It is open to both Muslim and non-Muslim visitors. However, Fridays are dedicated to prayers.

2

Mutrah Corniche

During your stay at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort if you are interested in seeing how the locals spend their evenings, head over to the Mutrah Corniche. This is a seafront destination with a beautiful view of mosques with a backdrop of the mountains. You can take a quiet stroll along the waves or watch a sunset here. Right near the corniche are narrow strips of shops and a market. You can go to a spa in Oman to relax after a long day and head over to the corniche for relaxation.

3

Jabrin Fort and Nizwa Fort

There are several interesting forts to visit in Oman. The Jabrin Fort is in the Nizwa area and dates back to the 1600s. There is a labyrinth of rooms to explore through and several interesting elements to explore such as murder holes and boiling rooms. This is also known as the Jabrin castle. The Nizwa Fort belongs to the 17th century and has a massive circular tower. When you reach the top of the tower you can see a panoramic view of the surrounding city, the mountains, mosques, and the date palms that are dotted all around.

4

The Wahiba Sands

When you visit the Middle East, you must explore the great deserts that are seen there. You can enjoy a range of desert activities such as camel safaris four-wheel cruises and more in the desert. You can also request a night camping experience which consists of a Bedouin tent that will provide refuge to you throughout the day. The nights can be spent enjoying a delicious dinner, listening to some music, and stargazing. The clear skies make for excellent nights. Another great thing to do in the desert is to experience a unique sunrise and sunset.

5

Sur

Sur is a unique place in Oman where the desert meets the sea. It is a beautiful fishing village where you can visit a turtle reserve, explore the local homes, and unwind near the beach for hours. However, do note that there are specific times of the year when turtle viewing is possible. Even if you don't get to see turtles, Sur is a great place to relax.
