Best Places to Visit in Qatar on Your Next Vacation - Top Attractions to Explore on a Holiday in Qatar

As one of the top tourist hotspots in the region, Qatar remains one of the Middle East's most popular holiday destinations. From exploring the country's main landmarks to cultural institutions, here are some of the best highlights to explore during a getaway in Qatar.

1

Zekreet Fort

Ranked among the most breathtaking sites in all of Qatar, the Zekreet Fort is both a historical highlight and an architectural marvel that has stood the test of time. Built during the 18th century, the fort was once a simple square structure before the other embellishments were added during the second phase of construction. Those who tour this iconic fort can also enjoy visiting the beach nearby.

2

Msheireb Museums

Occupying pride of place in Qatar's bustling capital Doha, the Msheireb Museums is a collection of four historical sites that document the legacy of angling in the city. Documenting the humble beginnings of Doha as a tiny fishing village, the museum also charts the progress of this global city.

3

Film City

Ranked among the most mysterious attractions in Qatar, Film City may have served as the elaborate set of a television show or film or been an ancient desert settlement for all we know. Resembling an ancient Bedouin village in aesthetics, this extensive area is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country although its origins are still unknown.

4

Al Zubarah Fort

Tipped to be one of the country's most impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Al Zubarah Fort was built prior to the 18th century but was completely destroyed in 1811. Reconstructed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in the 1980s, the venue served as a military base before it was abandoned and later became a cultural attraction. Considered a fine example of local architecture, the curved walls, square towers and roof of the building all display classic Qatari building features.

5

Al Khor Tower

Situated a mere 2km away from the heart of Doha, the Al Khor Tower is another heritage site that all visitors must tour during a holiday in Qatar. Dating back centuries, the three towering watchtowers remain the most recognisable feature of Al Khor, which was built to defend the city from invaders by allowing those within to catch sight of encroaching ships and enemy forces. Don't forget to drop by the Ain Hleetan Well that's a stone's throw away from the tower as its waters are known to have healing properties.

6

Katara Beach

While Qatar may not be known as a beach hotspot, Katara Beach remains one of Doha's top public beaches where one can splash around or take part in water sports activities.

7

Al Wakra Public Garden

Ideally located within an easy distance of the Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli and countless other Doha event venues, the Al Wakra Public Garden is another must-visit horticultural hub in the country.

8

Souq Waqif

Offering travellers the chance to shop in an authentic Arabic bazaar, a shopping spree at the Souq Waqif should be a part of every Qatar travel itinerary.
