5 Unmissable Things To Do In Ao Nang - A Complete Guide!

A popular beach and holiday destination, Ao Nang offers visitors much to explore and experience.
From adventurous activities, stunning scenery and a lively atmosphere, there is much to take in! Read on for more.

1

Spend time at Railay Beaches

Without a doubt, Railay Beach is hands down one of the most beautiful beaches in Ao Nang. Do keep In mind that the beach is only accessible only from a boat due to the towering limestone rocks that border the beach and cutting this top spot from the mainland. Even though Railay Beach may look like a separate island, it's actually part of the Thai mainland. Covered in verdant jungles and flanked by soaring cliffs, and warm waters to swim in Railey Beach is a dream come true. During your time here, you can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, and sunset stroll.

2

Take a Thai Cooking Class

The Thai cuisine is colourful, flavorful and fragrant, and seamlessly complements the quintessential Thai travel experience. The local cuisine in Krabi blends sour, sweet, spicy and salty flavours all in one dish. Among one of the Ao Nang things to do is to learn how to balance these flavours expertly like a local, so do consider signing up for a class at one of the many Cookery schools in Ao Nang. Many hotels like Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort would be happy to arrange for a session upon the requests of the guests.

3

Krabi hot springs, blue pool and emerald pool

One of the most relaxing activities you can do in Ao Nang is simply soaking in the Namtok Ron Hot Spring Waterfall. Given the close proximity to the famed Emerald pool and Blue pool, it's a good idea to combine a day trip with a visit to the waterfalls. Hiring a scooter is well recommended, and would approximately set you back around 300 THB per day. The best part about these locations is that there is no admission charge.

4

Visit the Tiger Cave Temple

The Tiger Cave Temple sits within the confines of the lush jungles of Ao Nang and is home to many monks who live and worship here. Legend says that a tiger once lived in the cave which happens to the monastery's main hall, hence the name. The expansive caves are open to the public, and visitors can take in plenty of images of the Buddha and ancient relics. As homage to the legends, there is a shrine with a statue of a tiger, that one can observe as well.

5

Hit the monkey trials

The monkey tail is a winding path that begins from the southwest of the main beach of Ao Nang and leads through a mountain to the other end of the Pai Plong Beach. In addition to the panoramic views of the Pai Plong Bay below, the track is home to a large colony of playful monkeys. Do keep in mind that feeding the monkeys is prohibited. Another top tip to follow is to keep a close eye on your belongings, as the monkeys are known to snatch bags and other belongings off from visitors.
