It was wonderful to speak with Deborah Willis. To date I have spoken with many professional photographers. And not just any school, here is Deborah's full title - Chairwoman of the Department of Photography and Imaging at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Introduction I think one of the primary reasons photographers do what they do is because they want to convey a meaning. Whether that meaning is intended to move the viewer to act. Or to manufacture an emotional response Or simply put a smile on the viewers face.
Introduction There is a reflective characterization about Karen Miranda-Randa. A multifaceted - multi-layered disposition. Which allows Miranda to paint these exceedingly emotive stories. Her photographic work is peppered with such stories- such as Other Stories I or Eyeke or Urcu Manga. Tweet This: "There is a reflective characterization about Karen Miranda-Randa."
Introduction I enjoyed interviewing Arlette Landestoy. And I believe that Arlette is the first Dominican Latina photographer I have interviewed. It's not so surprising. Why - because Latina photographers are a very small minority within the photography general market. Tweet This: "Being a woman of color in a mainly white-male dominated profession will bring its own challenges."
