7 Things to Do in the Isaac Region During Your Visit – A tailored itinerary for your weekend getaway

If you are a traveller who loves to explore the hidden treasures of a destination, the Isaac Region in Queensland should be on your bucket list. Here's what makes it an excellent tourist destination.

1

Gemini Peaks

Located between Clermont and Moranbah are Mount Pollux and Mount Castor. They are part of the Peak Range National Park, which, by the way, is an hour and seven-minute drive from Oaks Middlemount Suites. The volcanic mountains found within the park are at least 30 million years old. Hiking is a must-do thing here; it could be a little challenging, and you might have to do a bit of scrambling, but the experience is rewarding. Don't forget to bring plenty of drinking water and wear a good pair of hiking shoes. The park isn't too far from Middlemount service apartments, so you won't have to spend a lot of time trying to get here.

2

Lords Table Mountain

Another peak that makes the Isaac Region an excellent tourist spot is Lords Table Mountain. You will come across the mountain if you take the Dysart Clermont Road. There aren't any official hiking tracks here, but if you research into it, you will find two hiking tracks that travellers seem to love. The best time to visit is in the afternoon if you don't mind the sun, and if you visit in the evening, you can take pictures of the enchanting night sky.

3

Wolfang Peak

If you are into astrophotography, you should visit Wolfang Peak. The peak is shaped like a fang, hence the name, and photographers love coming here. You don't have to spend any more than 15 minutes to get here from Gemini Peaks, and it isn't far off from the highway. The old windmill creates a perfect background for photos, and if you come here in the evening, depending on the time of your visit, you will be able to catch the Milky Way in your pictures. Visit during June or July for the best experience.

4

Clairview

Outdoorsy people love camping at Clairview. If you are after photo opportunities, visit during the high tide; the low tide causes the water to recede, which means you won't be able to take photos of the beautiful blue waters. There's also an adjacent caravan park, with both unpowered and powered caravans. You will also find plenty of campsites along the waterfront. If you are feeling hungry, you can pop into the restaurant and grab a delicious snack.

5

Cape Palmerston

If you are into 4WD adventures, you'll find Cape Palmerston to be a paradise; mangroves, rocky outcrops, eucalyptus forests, and beaches are a few details of the allure. There are a few spots where you can camp out – for example, Cape Creek and Windmill Bay. Tides here are a bit dangerous, so speak to a local before heading to the beach. The caravan park found nearby offers unpowered and powered caravans, but for a more comfortable stay, you can check into one of the bungalows.

6

Theresa Creek Dam

Camping, fishing, and water skiing are three of the things you can do out here. Theresa Creek Dam is a popular tourist feature that is located right outside Clermont. With loads of food and drinks, camping here can be extremely fun; you will find numerous caravan sites. The birdlife here is amazing, with pelicans, cockatoos, kookaburras, and lorikeets being frequent visitors. You can also do some fishing here; claw crayfish, barramundi, and perch can be found in abundance.
