Animal Parks to Visit in Bali – Indonesia’s must-visit attractions

Bali has an array of animal parks that provide a sanctuary for animals from different parts of the world. If you are planning to visit, make sure you have time for at least a few of these parks.

1

Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest

Creating a safe haven for long-tailed macaques, the Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest is a nutmeg forest with a maze of passageways. Located not too far from Denpasar, the forest is an excellent stopover for those touring the western part of the island. The mossy temples found inside the forest create a mysterious and calming atmosphere. If you want to get out of your nature resort in Bali, Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest would be a great place for a visit. The forest can be easily accessed from the likes of Nirjhara

2

Bali Bird Park & Reptile Park

To get up close with exotic birds and reptiles, visit the Bali Bird Park & Reptile Park. The horticulture of the park composes a suitable habitat for reptiles, amphibians, and there are plenty of birds in massive aviaries. Visiting the park is an opportunity to witness the numerous stages of development of some of the wild animals.

3

Bali Bird Walk

The courtesy of the ornithologist Victor Mason, Bali Bird Walk is an organisation established in 1990. Tourists can choose from a vast array of guided tours. The tours will take you through the far-flung areas of Bali allowing you to see migrant and endemic birds. The forested tracts of central Bali, mangrove forests and the highlands are a few details of Bali Bird Walk tours.

4

Bali Butterfly Park

Thirty kilometres from Denpasar is Bali Butterfly Park. This massive insect conservatory is home to hundreds of butterflies, and an area of the park is reserved for a diverse range of flora. The Bali peacock, the paradise birdwing, and the common birdwing are a few of the must-see butterflies.

5

Bali Safari & Marine Park

Home to nearly 400 species of wild animals, Bali Safari & Marine Park should be on your places-to-visit list. The sprawling park has made it possible for animals to walk around freely in their massive enclosures; these enclosures are identical to their natural habitats. Most of the animals you see here are natives of Africa, India, and Indonesia. Take the safari bus tour for the best experience, and the Bali Agung Show held at the park would be a delightful addition to your tour.

6

Kemenuh Butterfly Park

With garden enclosures, Kemenuh Butterfly Park provides a home for butterfly species like Papilio peranthus, Common Cruiser, and Atticus Atlas Moth. The park is only a short journey from central Ubud and an excellent stop for families with kids. The lobby displays a few diagrams explaining the life cycle of butterflies. You will also have a display of pearlescent cocoons inside the mini nurseries

7

Sangeh Monkey Forest

Occupying a land area of 60,000 square metres, Sangeh Monkey Forest is home to a range of wildlife species, including long-tailed macaques, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and insects. The forest is famous for its towering nutmeg trees with an average height of 40 metres. Inside the forest is an ancient temple with a history that goes back to the 17th century.

8

Uluwatu Monkey Forest

Another sanctuary for monkeys, Uluwatu Monkey Forest is located right beside the Uluwatu Temple. Long-tailed macaques are the main tourist attraction here. Afternoons are the best time to visit the forest. Keep a tight grip on your belongings when visiting the forest; these monkeys are known to steal things and would take anything they can get their hands on.
